U.K. MIDWEEKS: THREE-WAY BATTLE FOR ALBUMS #1

Three names are vying for the #1 spot on the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart this week, with two U.S.-born acts, Deftones and The Lumineers, battling with the British comeback girl group All Saints. So, who’s currently leading the pack?

Deftones are ahead by a small margin with eighth studio album Gore (Reprise), followed by The Lumineers with Cleopatra (Decca) and All Saints’ Red Flag (London/AS). With just 333 combined sales separating the trio, can Deftones stay ahead and secure their first U.K. #1?

In fourth place is Adele with 25 (XL); Warner act Lukas Graham are at #5 with their self-titled debut and Frightened Rabbit sit at #6 with Painting of a Panic Attack (Atlantic).

Over on the Official Singles side of the midweek story, Drake is on course for #1 with surprise release “One Dance” (Island). Since dropping on 4/5, the track has shot 20 places and looks set to award Drake his first U.K. chart topper as a headline artist, despite very little radio play. His personal best to date was “Hold On We’re Going Home,” which reached #4 in 2013.

Sia’s “Cheap Thrills” (Monkey Puzzle/RCA) is holding at #2, while Mike Posner’s former long-running #1, “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” (Island), slips to #3. Fifth Harmony are at #4 with “Work From Home” (SYCO) and Zara Larsson completes the Top 5 with “Lush Life” (Black Butter/Epic/Ten).
